Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module for Smart Cars – Photoelectric Reflective Sensor, Line Tracking (Black/White), Object Detection, Liquid Level Sensing.
Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module
Product Features
Digital Output: Detects objects with a digital output signal. Outputs LOW (0) when an obstacle is detected and HIGH (1) when no obstacle is present. Compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers.
Detection Range: Adjustable sensing distance from 2–40 cm, with excellent interference resistance.
Note: Detection distance varies depending on the object's color and surface reflectivity. Dark or black objects reflect less infrared light and are detected at shorter distances. The rated 2–40 cm range is measured using a white surface.
Wide Applications: Ideal for:
Smart robot car obstacle avoidance
Black/white line tracking
Edge/fall detection
Object counting
Conveyor/cutting line detection
Liquid level detection
Works in Complex Environments: Optimized for black line tracking on white paper as well as colored or concrete surfaces. As long as the surrounding surface is lighter than the tracking line, the sensor can reliably detect it.
Wide Voltage Range: Operates from 3.3V–5V DC, making it suitable for both 3.3V and 5V MCU systems.
Enable (EN) Pin:
EN = HIGH: Sensor enabled.
EN = LOW: Sensor disabled.
A jumper can be used to permanently enable or disable the sensor, or the EN pin can be controlled directly by a microcontroller.
Adjustable Carrier Frequency: Two onboard potentiometers allow adjustment of the infrared transmitter power and carrier frequency. Tune the module for maximum detection distance and optimal sensitivity (38 kHz receiver frequency).

Example Arduino Connection
Connect the obstacle avoidance sensor to Digital Pin 3 and an LED to Digital Pin 13. When the sensor detects an obstacle, the LED turns on; otherwise, it remains off.
This module is an excellent choice for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, STM32, and other embedded development platforms requiring reliable infrared object detection and line-following capabilities.
