AS5600 Magnetic Encoder – Magnetic Induction Angle Measurement Sensor Module, 12-bit High Precision, Magnet Included.
AS5600 12-bit High-Precision Magnetic Encoder Module
Basic Information
Product Name: AS5600 Magnetic Induction Angle Sensor / Magnetic Encoder
Core Chip: ams OSRAM AS5600
Operating Principle: Uses non-contact Hall-effect sensing to detect the magnetic field direction of a diametrically magnetized bipolar magnet positioned directly above the sensor, converting it into a high-precision angular value.
Product Features:
Long Service Life & High Reliability: Non-contact measurement eliminates brush wear and prevents accuracy drift caused by mechanical aging.
Multiple Output Interfaces: Supports I²C digital output, hardware PWM output, and analog linear voltage (DAC) output.
High Resolution: 12-bit resolution, dividing one full rotation (360°) into 4,096 steps, with an angular resolution of up to 0.087°.
Flexible Measurement Range: The default range is 0–360°. The starting point (Zero Position) and ending point (Stop Position) can be programmed via I²C, allowing the full resolution to be mapped to a minimum travel range of 18°.
Low-Power Control: Built-in intelligent low-power mode automatically reduces operating current when there is no rotation or under specific operating conditions.

Pin Definition & Wiring
1. Pin Definition
Common AS5600 breakout modules typically have the following pins:
VCC: Power input (3.3V / 5V)
GND: Ground
OUT: Multifunction output pin. By default, it outputs an analog voltage; it can also be configured for PWM output through the registers.
DIR: Rotation direction control pin.
Connected to GND: Angle value increases when rotating clockwise (CW).
Connected to VCC: Angle value increases when rotating counterclockwise (CCW).
SCL: I²C clock line
SDA: I²C data line
PGO (on some modules): Programming input pin, used for three-wire programming without I²C.
